(North Bay, Ontario, January 31, 2020) Snow depth and water content is close to normal for this time of the year with slight change since the last snow survey on January 15, reports the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) who measures snow depth and water content as part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.
“The average snow depth for all sites is 29.7 cm (88% normal) and average water equivalence is 55.3 mm (87% normal),” said Kurtis Romanchuk NBMCA’s Water Resources Engineer. The average snow depth was 54.8 cm and water equivalence was 115.3 mm for all sites in 2019.
Snow is measured for depth and water equivalence at three locations in the watershed. Data for the season can be found on the NBMCA website at www.nbmca.ca.
