SNOW SURVEY READINGS FOR March 22, 2019

(North Bay, Ontario, March 25, 2019)  Snow survey readings confirm that the snow is gradually melting. Snow depth and water equivalence has slightly decreased since the snow pack measurements taken on March 14 by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority as part of its flood forecasting program.

NBMCA is now measuring the snow pack weekly, to monitor conditions during the spring freshet. This is a supplementary survey (not a scheduled survey). The % normal will be available during the next snow survey which takes place April 1.

Snow is measured for depth and water equivalence in North Bay, Corbeil and Chisholm Twp. The average snow depth for the three sites was 74.4 cm on March 22, a 16.4 cm decrease from last week. The average water equivalence for the three sites was 178 mm, a 4.7 mm decrease from last week.
