(North Bay, Ontario, January 6, 2020) Snow depth and water content is close to normal for this time of the year, reports the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) who measures snow depth and water content as part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.
“The average snow depth for all sites is 22.6 cm (78% normal) and average water equivalence is 48 mm (102% normal),” said Kurtis Romanchuk NBMCA’s Water Resources Engineer. The average snow depth was 46.6 cm and water equivalence was 102 mm for all sites in 2018, almost double compared to this year.
Snow is measured for depth and water equivalence at three locations in the watershed. Data for the season can be found on the NBMCA website at www.nbmca.ca.
