(October 16, 2019) The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) is undergoing the process of remediating and improving the channel of Chippewa Creek at Oak Street.
The Environmental Assessment (EA) was completed and accepted on June 27, 2019, following a 30-day public review period. The preferred option identified in the EA is to remove the nearby bridges, install a longer pedestrian bridge, install a new retaining wall along the southern creek bank, and regrade the northern creek bank to provide additional flow capacity. This work will help reduce upstream flood risk by removing the hydraulic constrictions of the bridges and the narrow channel form and will provide additional recreational opportunities and improve trail connectivity in the area.
NBMCA is currently seeking qualified contractors to complete the project work identified through the EA. A tender package has been prepared and is available at bids.bidsandtenders.ca. All respondents considering submitting a tender must register with the site as a Plan Taker for the bid opportunity, which will allow the download of the tender package and the receipt of addenda. Tenders must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the NBMCA office at 15 Janey Avenue, North Bay, Ontario, P1C 1N1, and will be accepted until 1:00pm and no later than 1:00pm local time on November 4, 2019.
The NBMCA Tender Contact for this project is Kurtis Romanchuk, Water Resources Engineer. All communication related to this tender should be made through bids.bidsandtenders.ca.
