Today’s snow survey measurements show a snow depth increase of 9.7 cm, and snow water equivalence decrease of 2.3 mm from the last survey on January 2, reports the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) who measures snow depth and water content as part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.

“The combined average snow depth of 40.6 cm and snow water equivalence of 58.0 mm at the three snow course locations,” said Angela Mills, NBMCA Water Resources Specialist. “Precipitation, combined rain and snow, recorded at the North Bay Airport climate station for October, November, and December was a total of 275.4 mm this year, which is 98.8% of the long-term average (1991-2020) of 278.5 mm, prompting the end of the low water advisory earlier this week,” she added.
