North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA), in partnership with the Province of Ontario, City of North Bay and the Municipality of Callander, has recently completed new and updated floodplain mapping. The public consultation period runs from January 20 to February 20, 2025.

This mapping has been developed to identify areas at risk for flooding during major storm events and to guide future planning and development within the City of North Bay and Municipality of Callander.

Floodplain mapping plays a crucial role in understanding and managing flood risks. It is based on modeling that predicts flood flows and their potential impact on our community. This mapping helps determine flood depths, elevations, and other essential information for minimizing property damage and protecting life.

Floodplain mapping for Chippewa Creek, Parks Creek, and Jessup’s Creek within the City of North Bay and Lansdowne Creek with the Municipality of Callander was completed. To review the maps, visit: https://nbmca.ca/about-us/floodplain-mapping-public-consultation-and-feedback/

To engage the public and ensure transparency, NBMCA is hosting a series of Public Information sessions to share the results of the floodplain mapping project. This is an opportunity for residents and property owners to learn more about the mapping process, ask questions, and provide feedback.

The public consultation period runs from January 20 to February 20, 2025, with four public information sessions:
