(North Bay June 21, 2024). A Flood Watch has been issued for the urban creeks in the City of North Bay and a Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Outlook has been issued for other areas of the North Bay-Mattawa watershed, according to the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA).

Fifty-nine teams from across the province and a few from out of province and even one paddler from out of country participated in North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority’s Mattawa River Canoe Race presented by Susan Weiskopf, Senior Financial Planner - IG. Paddlers launched from Olmsted Beach, North Bay and made their way through the 64 km trek, five mandatory portages and average water levels to Mattawa Island, competing for the top spot in the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority’s race.

One hundred and five paddlers in 59 canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards will be leaving Olmsted Beach in the early morning of Saturday, June 8 in the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority’s Mattawa River Canoe Race presented by Susan Weiskopf, Senior Financial Planner, IG.
