The Conservation Authorities Act and the Ontario Building Code enable NBMCA to charge fees for services. The Fees are approved by the NBMCA Board of Directors. Our Fees Policy is based on three principles: user-pay, adequate consultation and notification, and right to appeal.

NBMCA charges fees to assist with covering program costs for services and products that are not supported through provincial funding and assists in reduction of the general levy to member municipalities.
On-site Sewage System Fees were last reviewed in 2023/2024 and updated in 2024. The updated fee schedule includes minor wording revisions, the introduction of a $50 fee for permit searches, and the addition of a new fee category for systems with a capacity exceeding 5,000 L/day
Prohibited Activities, Exemptions and Permits (O. Reg. 41/24) fees have remained unchanged since 2022. These fees have now been increased by 5% to align with those of other Conservation Authorities. The updates include a 5% overall increase, the introduction of an additional fee for site visits exceeding the two visits included with a permit, and an increase to the fee for property-related inquiries.
The Freedom of Information (FOI) fee schedule has been amended to reflect the increasing workload associated with processing FOI requests. Under the previous schedule, a flat fee of $5 was charged per request, which is no longer consistent with current industry standards. In alignment with the Freedom of Information Act and comparable municipal fee structures, the revised schedule ensures fair and reasonable compensation for the work performed by staff.
